Project 2: Digital Publication Proposal
The following is the brief I received for this project.
This is an individual project that requires us to do a digital publication proposal.
After a few thoughts on what subject I shall choose, I've decided to do a recipe publication. As I'm a vegetarian, I think that it's a good choice to choose the meals vegetarians eat in a day as the subject for my recipe.
I did some research on different types of vegetarian, and I've decided to include them into my digital publication as an introduction for people who don't know vegetarian well.
After that, I searched for recipes that are simple and easy to cook. As my mother is good at cooking, I also consulted her for some suggestions.
Then, I researched for the visual style, typeface, colour, as well as the layout for my digital publication.
After that, I proceed to create the content. Before my actual shoot for the images, I did a trial shoot, so that I can know what to take care of during the actual shoot.
Then I edited the photos to suit the style for my digital publication.
I found that listing the ingredients on the image was too messy, so I decided to remove them and only apply doodles on the process of cooking.
Reflection
Experience
While doing this project, I have learned that behind all those beautiful food photos, there is a lot of hard work. I could not imagine how much time I would take to finish taking all the photos without the help of my mother and sister. However, I enjoyed the progress as I have not picked my camera up for a long time.
Observation
I learned something new, which is text formatting. Even though I have done magazine and e-publication during my diploma, I did not know that we could do text formatting. I think that it is quite important to explore typefaces and their leading before starting to do the publication.
Findings
I think that I did not manage my time well as I took a lot of time editing the photos.
